Again, this is a late review for I've used two bottles of this last year and earlier this year. I don't use it anymore but I'd like to share my thoughts about it.
What it says on their website:
Our tress de-stressers were delicately formulated with the finest ingredients, nothing less for our crowning glory!
60 SECONDS TRESS TAMER (300ml)
Exactly
how long does it take to have fabulous hair without being late for
work? Just 60 seconds! While showering, leave product on clean wet hair
for 60 seconds then rinse. ET voila! Your hair turns into silk as it
absorbs this nutrient-packed vitamin conditioner. Light yet highly
concentrated, it is so easy to rinse so you don't risk leaving
dandruff-causing residues. Remember, hair conditioners need not be heavy
and thickened with chemicals. Naturally scented with our creation of
vanilla, cherry & citrus, it has become our hair's favorite (and our
boyfriends too!). Major silky hair in just 60 seconds and so easy to
rinse, we personally call this our no-fuss conditoner.
For: Frizzy and tangled hair
Result: Tangle-free and soft to touch hair
My two cent's worth:
PROS:
- smells suuuuper awesome!
- no tangles!
- soft hair alright
CONS:
- it's actually a little hard to wash out. (This is a big deal to me now because of my hair fall problem so maybe I won't repurchase.)
- not sure if they are an all-organic brand
- pricey at 300pesos per 300ml bottle (not to mention shipping costs)
Rating: 3.5/5
I might give this product another try in the future. I always find myself longing to smell it again! But really, it doesn't do miracles to my hair. It's just a decent conditioner that is priced higher than other brands. Also, they don't claim to use 100% natural products so I'm not at peace. :)

Tonymoly Cutie Beauty BB Cream: A Review
I have mine in Tomboy Chris (blue one) as it is the one designed for oily/combination skin.
I had this over a year ago and it's just now that I've gotten around to writing a review about it.
What it says on the tube:
This multi-functional BB Cream with non-comedogenic ingridients is safe for sensitive skin as well as delivering anti-wrinkle,whitening, and sun protection effects. And this BB cream makes skin naturally radiant.
What I have to say:
PROS:
- smells inoffensive
- non-comodogenic
- has SPF
- does not break me out
- I remember buying it for around 300-400 pesos so price is kind of okay
CONS:
- has one shade makes my face too white
- non-organic
- oil control is minimal to non-existent
- coverage is also minimal
- not easily accessible especially for someone who does not live in Manila like me (It retails on ebay for 588 pesos! Not worth it!)
Rating: 1.5/5
I really wanted to like this product but it just doesn't serve its purpose. I didn't throw mine away, though. I use it on my neck whenever my face seems much whiter :)

E.L.F. Waterproof Eyeliner Pen
I've had mine around a year ago and I used it all up until early this year.
Here's a quick review:
PROS:
- easy marker application
- does not crumble
- cheap
- dries quickly
CONS:
- waterproof. NOT
- smudges after just an hour
- fades
- the marker tip is easily disfigured so later applications look messy
- sometimes, nothing comes out
Rating: 2/5
You do get what you pay for. It's really cheap at 100pesos.
(even if it's 100% more expensive than in the US where it's @ $1)
I wouldn't recommend for anyone to buy this. But if you'd just like something to practice your eyeliner skills on, go ahead!
What's your favorite eyeliner? I'm on the lookout for the best one! Tell me about it below!

V&M Venus and Mars Emu Mineral Lip Butter Tint: A Review
Hiya!
I'm doing another V&M review. This time on their new lip butter tint (which apparently can also double as cheek tint although I've never tried that)
I have mine in Cherry Berry. It's my new fave! I actually wanted to get Pink Posies at first but the online seller I've been buying from did not have that in stock so I got to try this. I was a little hesitant because it looks like a dark shade from the container but it gives a lighter shade when applied.
Here's what it says on their website:
EMU MINERAL LIP (AND CHEEK) BUTTER TINTS
PHP 185
Make sure you only use products with authentic high-grade ingredients down to the base oils. Do not be fooled by seemingly essential ingredients. A premium item is great up to the last drop of oil.
Break free from chemicals! Give your lips the authentic, lavish pampering it has always wanted. Made out of the finest essential oils, lips will surely be younger-looking in no time. There’s nothing more it could ever ask. Not at all heavy on the lips!
Ingredients: EMU Oil, Castor Bean Oil, Almond Oil, Carnauba Wax, Mica, Peppermint, Beeswax, Vitamin E Oil (now FORTIFIED with SPF15)
AVAILABLE IN FOUR EXCITING SHADES:
1. Pink Posies - A really great pink shade! Not too overpowering at all. Your lips will look naturally pink and stunning. Great for day and even night wear! (Even I am surprised to love a shade like this one, you may think it's too pink for your taste at first glance, but this baby will prove you otherwise!). Now live like a Barbie girl like you've always dreamed of.)
2. Cherry Berry - Lips only better! Now get ready for that sexy kiss!
3. Salmon Peach - A natural looking shade, may be nude, may be a bit peachy. Great for day wear to create a perfectly neat and sophisticated look.
4. Wine Pearl - Take this pick if you go for a natural look, honey. You will never go wrong with this on a casual catch up with a friend.
Here's what I have to say:
PROS:
- has SPF
- cherry berry looks natural
CONS:
- none
The first time I used it, it wouldn't color my lips and it didn't glide smoothly. But after that initial application, everything's good! I don't know about it's moisturizing ability as I have never worn this alone - always over clear lip balm. I also don't swipe it on my lips, I just dab because I don't want to overdo it. I find that this method doesn't make me look like I'm wearing any lip tint. I actually am not a fan of lipsticks/lip tints that are unnatural-looking.
Would I repurchase? Yes, but that's a long time from now, my dabbing method is very economical :)
I'd like to try Pink Posies next!

V&M Venus and Mars Happy Pores Witch Hazel Toner: A Review
I used this toner a few months ago just to see if it would actually help me with my pore problems. You see, I have oily skin and my nose have crater-like pores that just scare me every time I look into the mirror.
I tried this one from Venus and Mars even if their products are a little pricier compared to other local organic brands because I really like their lip smooch detox lip balm. :)
Here is what it says on their website:

JUICY FACTS ABOUT WITCH HAZEL:
Using witch hazel for skin problems is a tradition that goes back centuries. This herb is a naturally soothing ingredient in many skin care products. When you use witch hazel, natural healing of many of the harshest skin problems is easy. It can soothe many of the issues that plague our skin and can even treat the most stubborn skin conditions.
1. Witch Hazel is well-known for its soothing powers on the skin.
2. Using Witch Hazel for skin cleansing is a way to take advantage of this natural astringent.
If you have a skin care product with witch hazel you won't have any need for those stinging alcohol astringents.
3. Witch Hazel has the ability to make LARGE PORES shrink in size.
And the outcome is a face that is less oily and smoother!
5. Witch Hazel has the ability to fight fine lines and wrinkles.
This is a definite plus for a toner!
6. Witch Hazel prevents acne and acts as an anti-bacterial agent.
Here are my thoughts on the toner:
PROS:
- does not sting
- gentle on skin
- no offensive smell (pure witch hazel actually smells bad)
CONS:
- did not seem to get rid of excess oil on skin
- did not seem to minimize pores
- did not seem erase fine lines as promised, I have a few under my eyes (I've gone through one bottle)
- pricey for a small bottle
- pimple problem not improved
Rating: 1/5
Would I repurchase? No.
I was pretty sold on witch hazel so I tried another Witch Hazel toner from another brand that is cheaper and seems to be more effective... more on it on a separate post :)

Bath and Body Works Summer Vanillas - Lemon Vanilla Mist: A Review
Let me get straight to the point...
YUCK.
It smells soooo amazing from the bottle I swear! But once sprayed, you just can't figure out how the awesome smell turned into lemon shortbread that has molds. It's really strong too and the sillage is good so it's very offensive not just to me but to people 5 feet away from me.
I tried spraying it to 5 different surfaces around a jacket and only one of those five areas actually smell like how it does from the bottle. What is up with this. Good thing I bought the mini one. Still a waste, though. Gave it away!

Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse Makeup: A Review
I
bought this product while abroad because I needed one asap and I left mine back home. I
should've just chosen a cheaper one, for sure it would have been better.
This is one of the worst I've ever tried.
In the store, The testers for the different shades were arranged in a straight line, with the products they represent behind them. I actually chose the Natural Beige shade. So I grabbed the first one in the column behind the tester without checking. Big mistake. I accidentally got the Shell shade and I only realized when I got home. Humpf! And because we were only there for vacation, I had no time to have it replaced.
Here's what I have to say:
PROS:
-can't even think of any
-can't even think of any
CONS:
- hard to control how much comes out when sprayed
- smells SUPER bad (I don't know if it's just me, or just the shade i have, which is shell 02. I would not use my blush brush to apply my brush just cause I don't want it to smell like this product.)
- my face becomes unnaturally glittery
- slight water/moisture and it's gone/ it fades
Coverage would have been decent enough if it weren't for the sparkly effect. I look like a freakin' vampire from the Twilight series. Not cool.

I don't need to tell you whether I'll repurchase or not.

Ilog Maria Honey, Beeswax & Propolis Lip Balm: A Review
Hiya girls!
I recently tried this lip balm from Ilog Maria as I've read a lot of positive reviews about it. I have mine in the jar container. I've been using it for a 2 weeks now (along with my other organic lip balms) and here's what I think:
PROS:
- super cooling effect!
- really moisturizes the lips, without the coated-lips feeling
CONS:
- smells weird. It used to bother me but I got used to it. I only wish I've gotten the stick version so I wouldn't have to use my finger and have it smell like this lip balm
Rating: 4/5
Would I repurchase? Maybe. The smell doesn't bother me anymore but I'm worried it might bother the people I talk to! So maybe I'll just use this when I'm at home. :) I don't want to say no because other than the smell, I really like this.

Messy Bessy Fabric Freshner: A Review
Here's a product (and brand) I really believe in! They offer household and personal care products made from 100% organic ingredients!
What I'll review here is the Fabric Freshner. I got my bottle over a year ago and I've been using it ever since!
Here's what it says on the bottle:
Spray this magical blend of natural extracts on fresh laundry, upholstered furniture and yes, even those clothes that you (secretly) want to use just one more time before washing!
Here's what I think:
PROS:
- smells nice!
- effective even in clothes/fabrics that smell bad!
- plus, they are a Filipino-brand! Makes me proud! :)
CONS:
- the contents spilled from the bottle during the first few uses. (Appeal to better packaging!)
Overall, it really does the job. I usually use it on clothes that smell a little musty/moldy due to long storage. Where I live, it's very humid and molds are everywhere especially during the typhoon season.
One issue I have with this though is that I love wearing perfumes and the strong (but pleasant) smell of this will mix with the smell of my perfume. So I only use it when I don't mind smelling like this. Hmmm... I can't tell notes on fragrances so I can't say how this smells like but I think it's sort of aromatic floral, kinda spa-like but a little less calming and a little more uplifting.
Give it a try! Check it out here. Messy Bessy Website link is also on my sidebar! :)

How I do my Pre-Shampoo Oil Treatment
Wednesday, September 12, 2012
Hey y'all!
If you've read my previous post about conditioners and hair fall, I mentioned that I don't anymore use conditioner on my hair after every shampoo. What I do now is do a weekly pre-poo (pre-shampoo) oil treatment that I believe gives my hair the basic deep conditioning it needs without using harmful ingredients and without risk of increased hair fall. Like I said in my previous post, I recently realized conditioners make me work through my hair more while wet and fragile because they are hard to wash out. Thus, resulting in more hair fall.
So as promised, here's how I do it!
What I Need and Use:
- Olive Oil (the lesser the processes it undergoes, the better! Opt for the cold-processed ones! Go virgin or extra virgin!)
- a small pan
- a shower cap (or plastic bag!)
No Olive Oil? Substitute with Coconut Oil! Extra Virgin and Virgin are much better!
What I Do:
1. I put around 4 tbsp. of oil in the pan and warm it up. WARM only - like only for 10 seconds or something!
*tip: Adjust amount based on hair length. I have long hair up to my waist but it's kinda thin. You don't need to apply a thick layer, that's unnecessary and wasteful. Just make sure to cover all ground and you're good!
2. I blow dry my hair just a little. I mean it, just a little - like only for 10 seconds also!
3. I put shower cap on. If no shower cap is available, go ghetto and just use a plastic bag. :) This keeps the heat and therefore, allows the oil to be more easily absorbed.
4. I leave it on for 2 hours. Sometimes more, sometimes less. It depends on the time I have available :)
*tip: Leave for at least 30min but the rule is, the longer the better! Some people even sleep on it. I don't really like getting my pillows nasty so maybe next time I'll just do this very early in the morning and wash before bedtime :)
5. Wash with your fave shampoo as usual! Try an organic shampoo if you've never did before. The oil is hard to wash out so it usually takes me about 2-3 washings.
*tip: Wash with care! Hair is fragile when wet! And some people do the final rinse with colder to seal hair cuticles and make hair more shiny. I've never done this before but I'll give it a try soon!
6. Air-dry your hair and voila! Say hello to nourished hair!
*tip: Heat weakens hair so air-drying is still the best option. Also, avoid brushing/combing hair while wet. If you must, use a wide-toothed comb (or fingers!) and work through hair very carefully.
------------
Sooooo easy, right?! And much cheaper too than commercial hair masks/deep conditioning treatments that may even harm you and the environment with all those nasty chemicals!!
I tried the virgin coconut oil as a substitute for the olive oil for the first time last night and here's what I have to say:
PROS:
- I just had the least number of hair fall I've had in years!
- I have shinier hair, I swear!
Wow, I think I like the effects more than the olive oil. Maybe because I used processed Olive Oil... not virgin or extra virgin. But that was what's available around the house! I promise I'll buy the extra virgin next time! In the meantime, VIRGIN coconut oil is doing wonders so I'll use this first!
CON:
-The only downside is I can't stand the smell. Some people like it but not me!
Oh, whatever! I'll do this when I don't have to leave the house so other people won't be repelled. The thing is, even after shampoo, there's still a faint coconut smell. Hmmm... other people add essential oil of their choice to remedy the smell and I will try that as well soon! I heard Rosemary is also good for the hair.
So, have any of you tried this? How do you do yours? What other ingredients do you use? Sound off!
P.S. The gorgeous, shiny, black hair in the pic ain't mine. Wish it was. I'm on my way. :)

The Story of How I Said Bye-Bye to Hair Conditioners
Can you imagine life without using hair conditioner?
A couple of years ago, I couldn't.
I mean, washing hair with shampoo and then conditioner was the unbreakable habit, especially for someone like me who had super thick hair. And I mean SUPER thick - I couldn't cut my hair short because it would look like "bunot" (coconut husk) and it's hard to find hair elastics that fit (it's usually twice over is loose and thrice is impossible or too tight that my eyebrows have been stretched upward). Not to mention the humid Philippine weather also made my hair frizzy. What a sight, yes?
And so, for as long as I remember, I never washed my hair with just shampoo. I always made it a point to use conditioner. If there's no conditioner, I won't even wash my hair.
4 years ago, while starting college, I was also starting to shed a lot of hair. It is beyond the normal amount, I've noticed. At first, I thought, "maybe it just seems like I'm losing more because I have never grown my hair this long before." Well, it didn't really matter. I didn't really care then. I even liked it because I thought my super thick hair was finally normalizing or something.
While still in college, I came home one time during a break and my mom told me I had really, really thin hair. My grandma was also worried because she saw the hair fall I had after showering one time and she said it was scary how much it was. They said that at that rate, I could go bald in a few years! (Of course that's never really gonna happen as hair grows back anyway...unless I have some hormonal/nutritional issues huhu) I guess I never really paid attention until I saw how very concerned they were. When I did pay attention, I saw that I was indeed losing hair at an alarming rate. I tried counting the strands one day and it amounted to around 500. FIVE HUNDRED. I was about to cry when I reached 300 that day. I didn't realize I was only just a little around the halfway mark. Ouch. Btw, for those who don't know, 100 is the normal amount of hair fall per day.
Well, something had to be done, right?
2010 - I made the switch to organic products. I switched to Human Nature. I had to alternate my Human Nature shampoo and conditioner with the non-organic ones I still had because I am one of those who couldn't bear to throw away unfinished products.
The Verdict? I liked it. I tried their many different variants - even the ones that are already discontinued now. Human Nature Shampoo and Conditioner was a staple in my bathroom. After a few weeks of using Human Nature, I noticed a positive difference in the texture of my hair. My hair has also become more manageable and tangle-free. I have 2 cons with Human Nature - the conditioner was hard to wash out and my hair fall problem has not been solved. I decided to stick with it for 2 years because I thought maybe I need to give it time to see the difference.
2012 - Same habit, same alarming amount of hair fall. I don't know why I stuck to that regimen this long. I mean, I should have tried something else sooner, right? What was I doing wrong? Now that my hair is thinner than ever, I've done some research and have tried to consider my other options. (Hey, better late than never!)
Option A - Go to doctor. (Hmmm... I'll give myself one last chance. This will be my last resort.)
Option B - Take Biotin supplements. (I almost did this until I've read disturbing reviews that it causes weight gain and hair growth EVERYWHERE. Yikes. So, pass.)
Option C - Look into other organic brands of shampoo or research for hair care habits that promote hair growth and strengthen hair against breakage (Seems do-able. So go!)
My search for my new hair care products and habits have commenced!
I've read somewhere that Zen Organics Gugo Bark Shampoo might solve my problem so I went to the only reseller I know of here in Baguio (Green Options - Porta Vaga). I went there one day to purchase but they were out of stock so I opted for the Aloe Vera Shampoo instead (just because it smelled the best from what was available) I didn't buy any conditioner because I didn't like any of what was available. And so, my first ever hair wash without conditioner in years have occurred. I didn't care for unmanageable hair I was sure to get afterwards since I was just going to stay at home all day. So I just used the shampoo. Here's what happened:
-I noticed there was significantly lower hair fall while showering. I thought maybe this was because it was easily washed out.
-My hair felt dry afterwards - so dry that I didn't comb my hair after washing.
-BUT when my hair dried, I was surprised! My hair does not feel dry after all! It's also not unmanageable!
-I really like the cool smell but one time, I shampooed twice and the second time around, it smelled like detergent. Not offensive, though!
I like alternating products because I've read somewhere that sticking to just one causes more build-up. So I went and bought Ilog Maria Honey and Propolis Shampoo thru the Ilog Maria website as an alternate. I used it without conditioner too since they don't sell any. Here's the verdict:
- Smells herbal with a hint of chocolate (at least to me!). I like.
- Leaves scalp with a cool feeling afterwards
- My hair felt dry afterwards also so I didn't comb/brush after
- But when it dried, no tangles and manageable!
- And... less hair fall as well!
I know, I know, I was very slow in detecting the problem. It was right under my nose this whole time.
What was common in those two instances that wasn't part of my hair habit? NO CONDITIONER and NO BRUSHING/COMBING WHILE WET. Took me long enough to realize!
Fact: Hair is at it's weakest when wet.
Conditioners are always hard to rinse out so you work through your wet hair more. I noticed that I had thrice the amount of hair fall after rinsing conditioner as compared to rinsing shampoo. I've also noticed lots of hair in my hair brush/comb when I work them through my hair while wet. Sheesh! Why did I ever overlook these things before?!
So now, I don't do the conditioner thing anymore with every wash. What I do is do a pre-shampoo oil treatment every week. I use olive oil. I'll make a separate post on how I do it :)
I also do the Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse once a month! I think others do it weekly but I hate the smell so I'm fine with the monthly thing. Some people add essential oil to the ACV rinse as well and I will try that on my next one!
I am also yet to try Human Nature again without the conditioner.
Sigh. All these years of higher-than-normal-amount of hair fall... Conditioner, the bathroom staple for hair washing for almost everyone is to blame! To add to my disapproval towards conditioners now, I have also read that they (especially those containing silicone) usually do nothing for the hair but coat it with stuff that makes the hair feel good to the touch, tricking us into believing that our hair is made softer and shinier and therefore, healthier, when in fact, it's quite the opposite. Tsk tsk.
With my new routine, I swear I have less hair fall! I am yet to count the number of hair strands I shed now. Not sure if it's already on the normal range but very sure that gone are the days when it would amount to 500.
Do you have the same hair problem? Any other solutions you know about? What's your tried and tested method? Need a shoulder to cry on about losing your hair? Hihi. Tell me all about it! Comment below!
